The farm shop offers the full range of foodstuffs produced on the farm, as well as the most important groceries so that you can buy everything essential here without the need to also visit another shop. Products include everything from vegetables to cereals, as well as some local delicacies such as seabuckthorn jam, Solmarka flat bread, and chervil juice. A speciality of the farm are our own jams, two sorts of lamb sausage, lamb meat, as well as Gunnars own pesto on the basis of garlic and basil. To mention this: We also have a range of lamb skin and wool products. We grow most vegetables that can be grown in Öland's climate. In total, this includes 140 different plants, such as five different potatoes, eight different lettuces, nine onions (out of which four are garlic), and an impressive 40 pumpkin species. We harvest each morning what we can sell during the day in the farm shop. Solberga delivers to some of the best restaurants on the island, including Hotel Borgholm, where famous chef Karin Fransson works. Through this cooperation we also get new ideas for producing new and less common vegetables. The harvest begins in May, when the first asparagus, radishes, and garlic can be taken up. At the end of the season in November we bring in artichokes. In the period from september to december, pigs and lamb are submitted for slaughter, and we sell boxes with fresh meat. Demand is huge, but we do not want to raise more animals, as we believe that generous areas for pasture are important for the high quality of our meat. We would thus like to ask interested customers to order in time (see Meat order). Even in winter we have a limited assortment of vegetables on offer, including onions, potatoes, carrots, red beets, and others. We also offer a variety of frozen lamb meats in winter. |
